Welcome to my class. Although this is my fifth year at Dripping Springs Elementary, I am entering my 24th year of teaching. I began my career with Abilene ISD in Abilene, Texas, where I taught 5th grade for 7 years. Then, I left the classroom for 5 years to serve as the Instructional Coordinator for math/science K-5 for all elementary campuses in the district. Although I enjoyed working with teachers, I realized my heart was in the classroom working with students. So I went back into the classroom where I served as the 5th grade math/science magnet school teacher where I taught all content areas to a class of 24, 5th grade students on a college campus. The magnet school served as a collaboration between Abilene ISD and McMurry University in an effort to instill a love of math and science in students at an early age. As I continue in my educational endeavors at DSES, I desire to share my love of math/science with all students and look forward to this school year. I consider myself to be a life-long learner and, as such, completed a Masters in Education with a specialization in Gifted and Talented, 4 1/2 years ago. I also hold an ESL certification and love working with all students.
I am a mother of four grown children, three boys and a girl, and "Mimi" to my eight grandchildren ranging in age from 2 yr - 13 yrs old. I've been told by my children that I have four grandkitties and five grandpuppies. I love to quilt, cross-stitch, and play piano, as well as play golf and tennis.
I am greatly blessed and am honored to touch the lives and be touched by the lives of my students. I continue to learn so much from my students and look forward to growing this year as well.
